Stage Magic Show
A stage magic show means that the full audience experiences the magic at the same. “Stage” does not necessarily mean that a magician stands on a surface that raises them in the air. The magician can be standing flat on the ground at the same level as the audience. For example, the corporate magician in the video below is at ground level (just like the audience is at ground level).
“Stage” just refers to the designated performance area where the magician is. (If you are looking to hire a magician in New Jersey or Philadelphia, you can get a quote for the magician shown in the video by clicking here.)
A stage does not always mean that there is a microphone needed to be audible. For example, an organization may hire a magician to perform in a boardroom for only 18 employees. In this situation, a microphone is probably not needed. However, in most cases, audio equipment is required for a magician to be audience.
Now that "stage magic" has been explained, consider what "corporate stage magic" is. Corporate stage magic (if it is not combined with another corporate service) is mostly just magic that works for adults. A magician who has done a number of corporate events will tested what resonates with these audiences. The magician will also be experienced testing material in ballrooms with rounds (rounded banquet tables). Ballrooms with rounded banquet tables are a common setting for corporate events, but there are many exceptions. For example, a breakout session can take place in a secondary ballroom that chairs without any tables.
Stage Magic Show with a Keynote Message
A keynote speech sets the tone for an event. Magic can serve as a tool to strengthen a keynote speech or message. For example, as a magician appears to achieve things that don’t seem possible, it can be symbolic for reaching sales goals that seem impossible.
Some corporate magicians will tell their career story about overcoming struggles to become successful. It places the presentation somewhat in the category of inspirational speaking.
In general, entertainment (not only magic) can appeal to organizations that hire keynote speakers. This is because organizations often had bad experiences with boring speeches that were essentially lectures. Keynote speakers with a lecture format has been displaced by interactive speeches, interactive speeches, and speeches with an entertainment component.
Walk-Around Entertainment for One Small Group at a Time
Imagine that a pharmaceutical association decides to have their annual conference at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Suppose these are VPs who fly in for the conference from all over the world. They often want to unwind from traveling and break the ice with other attendees, so the conference begins with a welcome reception.
A corporate magician can walk around to approximately 2 to 8 employees at a time, performing magic that gets strong reactions. You can get clarification of exactly what this structure of entertainment looks like in this video.
Master of Ceremonies (Emcee)
An emcee (master of ceremonies) hosts an event. The emcee can introduce speakers, make announcements on behalf of an organization, hand out awards during an award ceremony, and structure an event. Imagine if an emcee made an award or trophy visually appear out of thin air. Would that be a way to deliver awards with style?
Trade Show Magician
Let’s first define what a trade show is. Imagine a huge room with pieces of the floor rented by different businesses. Each business rents a piece of the floor space to showcase their own business. Now imagine that these businesses only showcase their own business to other businesses. That’s what a trade show is. (If you already know what an expo is, just think of a trade show as a business-to-business expo.)
A trade show magician is hired to attract attention (and therefore people) to the piece of floor space that a business rents. Trade show magicians may customize a pitch, try to collect contact information while building crowds, and apply other strategies.
Magic Combined with Team Building Activities
Before considering team building activities, note that magic by itself is already an icebreaker that bonds people. People who witness something that’s apparently impossible will get a kick out of watching each other’s reactions. However, they will also try to figure the tricks out by talking to each other. This social cohesion fostered by magic achieves the same goal as many team building activities.
With that said, there are many ways to combine magic with team building exercises. One approach is to simply alternate between magic tricks for adults and team building exercises. Another approach is having employees do team building exercises that apply magic. For example, a team can split up into smaller groups, collaborate to learn tricks, and take turns performing for each other.
There are many creative forms that the approaches above can take. A PowerPoint presentation can be used to structure a program more toward traditional corporate training. A magician can perform tricks that are symbolic for principles of collaboration, productivity, communication, etc. The possibilities are endless.
