As a quick starting point, consider using this checklist to picture your overall event first. Then scroll below it to discover entertainment options.  - **Venue:**  Where will your celebration take place? (Tip: An indoor event can prevent weather cancelations.) - **Theme:**  Will you theme the event to match the guest of honor's interests? - **Main Food/Drinks:** What will the guests eat? - **Cake:**  What kind of birthday cake will there be? Will it be an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen? Do you need to buy candles separately? - **Invitations:**  Who will you invite? Will you email them and send invitation cards through postal mail?  - **Decorations:** Will there be balloons? Letter-shaped lights that spell the guest of honor's name?  - **Budget:**  What is the total amount that you can spend? Are there other people who may want to contribute? The number of guests is important to consider.
